Gawler Greyhound Racing Club returned to racing on Friday the 1st of May after a hiatus due to the Canine Corona virus that had seen numbers of kennels being quarantined for a period of time.

Friday’s weather was an improvement from the rest of the week with a few light showers during the afternoon. Local trainer Neil Mann came to win with Winsome Dylan in race 7 over the 400metre distance. Neil has been involved in the Greyhound Industry for a number of years and is the current President of GOTBA.

Meek and Mild jumped well out of box 1 to take the lead ahead of the field, Winsome Dylan also came out well from the wide box 8 and showed that it has a turn of foot by taking the lead down the back straight. Once in front he never looked like being touched by the others and managed to win in a time of 23.3seconds ahead of Paula Hearnden trained greyhound Long Gully Terry.

Racing will continue again this Friday the 8th of May and it is hoped that the 2 race schedule will continue from Tuesday 12th of May.

With current Covid 19 restrictions still in place viewing of the Greyhounds has to continue from the comfort of your lounge chair on Sky Racing. With luck and easing of restrictions we are hopeful to have spectators back in the coming period.
