Star Anise crossing the line in Produce Semi’s Kisses for Cloda Winning the 1st Semi in the Produce
Gawler Greyhounds 01/07/2019
Friday the 21st saw the semi-finals of the Produce Stake to be run on Sunday 7th of July at Gawler Greyhounds.
There were 2 semi-finals run with the top 4 from each race moving into the final and the next best 2 times being reserves. In heat one the favourite Star Anise trained by Barossa trainer Jan Jones jumped well with Firetail trained by Lauren Harris and Stitch ‘em Cilla trained by Clint Trengove. Star Anise took the lead on the first turn and held a 2 length lead for most of the race and eventually ran out the winner in a time of 30.72sec over the 531metre distance ahead of Firetail and Oakvale Beauty. This was a new personal best for Star Anise.
In Semi-final number 2 Allinga Mal trained by Yvonne King jumped well and found clear ground whilst the remaining runners jostled for position. Kisses for Cloda trained by Ray Fewings took the lead into the home straight to win by 1 length ahead of Allinga Mal and Got My way trained by Daniella Madaliski in a time of 30.9seconds.
The box draw for the final commenced at the club and Star Anise got the perfect inside draw of box 1 and will start favourite I would imagine. Oakvale Beauty was drawn box 2, Firetail box 3, Got my my way box 4, Kisses for Cloda 5, Quara’s Flick 6, Stitch ‘em Cilla 7 and Allinga Mal box 8, reserves were Long Gully Terry and Oakvale Thrill.
