Hot Sambuca Jumping out at Gawler on Friday in the blue(4)

Friday 15th May

Friday was beautiful Autumn day for Greyhound Racing at Gawler and there was some great racing to view.

A couple of high lights for the day were Race 3 Tanjil Ace trained by Ross Panagiotou and race 8 Hot Sambuca Trained by Tony Rasmussen.

Race 3 over the 400m distance made Ross a very happy trainer on Friday after taking the win with Tanjil Ace. Ross had been trying to get a start with Tanjil Ace for some time and was prompted to attend a qualifying trial the week before at Gawler to prove Tanjil was ready to race. It paid off with Tanjil Ace being accepted into the race on Friday. Tanjil Ace didn’t jump particularly well out of box 1 but held to the rail and was able to push his way through along the back straight to be a contender. He then weaved around Troy Murray trained Greyhound Ping Magic to take the lead down the home straight and win by a length in a time of 23.21seconds. Congratulations Ross and Tanjil Ace.

Race 8 gave Tony Rasmussen his double for the meeting winning with Hot Sambuca out of box 4 over the 531metre journey. Hot Sambuca jumped strongly to the lead but ran a slightly wide on the turn which almost gave number 8 Destini Catalina an opportunity to shoot to the lead. The 2 greyhounds ran strongly down the back straight and into the final turn keeping each other honest, it was only in the final 50metres that Hot Sambuca proved to strong and ensured the win finishing in a time of 31.13seconds.

Racing continues to occur at Gawler on Tuesday(day) and Friday(twilight) and can be view from Sky Channel.
