40 years Between Wins
On Sunday we had fine weather for the 10 race card and story of the night was in the first race where Troy Murray trained greyhound Zoometrical ran a smart race and finishing strongly winning by 2.5 lengths in a time of 23.19seconds ahead of Blewett Minnie trained by Graham Sterling and favourite Pretoria Son trained by Jamie Quinlivian.
Owners John and Penny Sargent were very pleased with Zoometrical’s win. John explained that it had been 40 years since he was last involved in the greyhound industry. In John’s early 20’s he had tried his hand at training for a period when a mate got him involved. He eventually was able to train a winner at Strathalbyn out of a litter sister of Just Biddy. John explained that at the time it was difficult to fund the training and work commitments meant he ceased training. In recent years he had been looking to own a pup and had attended the puppy auctions for 3 years until he found Zoometrical and had discussed with icon Ray Fewings who was very supportive and agreed to rear the pup until it had reached an age for breaking in. From there John and Penny looked for a trainer and Troy Murray was available. Well done John and Penny.
