Air Marshall Buddy Guy
Gawler Produce Semi Finals 26 June 2020
Fantastic Winter day on Friday made for great racing with the main events being the 2 Gawler Produce Semi Finals.
It was probably no surprise to see Heat 1 being won by Ray Murray trained greyhound Air Marshall winning after last week. He jumped well again and except for the first 3 seconds of the race was the leader and eventual winner by a long margin from Long Gully Barney(Paula Hearnden) and See you Smile(Ben Rawlings) finishing equal 2nd in a time of 30.93 seconds. Air Marshall won in a time of 30.66seconds 5 plus lengths in front.
Heat 2 was a closer run affair. The favourite Spring Cobra from box 3 didn’t ping the boxes and was checked on the first turn taking him to last position although he did make ground back. Buddy Guy(Tony Rasmussen) from box 4 jumped the best an lead the entire race opening a 3 length lead down the back straight and winning in a time of 31.00 seconds flat, Oakvale style(Nathan Wilson) made ground on him toward the end to finish only ¾ of a length off in a time of 31.04, 3rd place Born Lovely(Ben Rawlings) finished in 31.07sec.
The final will be run this coming Sunday 5th of July. The box draw was held at the club shortly after and the qualifiers for the final are with box number and run time in the semi:
Air Marshall(1) 30.66seconds, Long Gully Barny(4) 30.93, See you Smile(7) 30.93, Buddy Guy(2) 30.93, Spring Vinnie(5) 31.03, Oakvale Style(3) 31.04, Born Lovely(8) 31.07, and Spring Burner(6) 31.24, with the reserves being Hank the Hustler and Vantae Mack.
You would have to think that Air Marshall will start favourite, It will be very difficult to split the others for the placings. I would definitely be keeping an out for Spring Cobra it can run a lot better than the semi-final effort. It should be a great race Sunday night.
At this stage we are still not able to have guests attend, however with restrictions being eased this may change in the coming days. Failing that the action will be screened on Sky 1 Sunday night.
Good luck to all the qualifiers
