The Gawler Greyhound Racing Club honoured the memory of those who fought for our Country with a special ANZAC day meeting. All races were named after veterans and the Gawler Greyhound Racing Club was also pleased to contribute financially to the RSL appeal. The last post was played and Chairman of the Gawler RSL, Paul Little, read the ode while a minute silence was taken.

The feature race for the day was the James Wood VC Stake over 400m which was won in a smart time of 22.94seconds by Djays Fortune trained by John Mundy from Lewiston. After a slow start the fawn dog quickly caught the early leaders and ran on to win by 3 lengths. Second placed dog was Ima Smithy trained by Robyn Mackellar also from Lewiston and the early leader Optic Angel trained by John Sewer from Ferryden Park came 3rd.
