First run in 1975, the Gawler Produce was the first “paid up” series conducted in SA. The race is aimed specifically at the younger greyhounds, with eligibility based on the year of whelping. To maximise the racing opportunities and attract the most nominations, the dates for the staged payments and race dates have varied over the years.
The Series attracts plenty of interest and is conducted with Heats, then by Semi- Finals, followed by the Final being run in early July. It has long been a prestigious Cup to win, substantiated by the interest and the quality of nominations received.
